Alaska Billing Services is a full-service billing company.  Utilizing the latest technology in billing software and programming, ABS drives the medical billing reimbursement process from transaction entry to collection.

Electronic Medical Claims Submission:  ABS currently submits more than 95% of our medical claims electronically. Chief Payors include, but are not limited to, Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna and Worker's Compensation. Use of our state of the art Practice Management System, in effect, pre-qualifies every electronic claim prior to claim submission.  Any claim not meeting the system criteria or Payor requirement is automatically delivered to our Biller for correction and re-submission.  This eliminates lengthy delays while a defective claim waits to be rejected by an Insurance Payor.  More than 97% of all electronic claims submitted by ABS are successfully processed on the very first submission.

Paper Claims Submission When Required:  Alaska Billing Services has invested resources and technology in automating every possible element of the paper claim process.  In the event submission of a paper claim is required, ABS will automatically print those claims to paper for immediate processing.

Electronic Remit Processing:  ABS Clearinghouse processing is fully invested in the receipt of Electronic remits from large insurance Payors. Many days of Revenue Cycle time are eliminated as payments are received and posted electronically by Alaska Billing Services.

Secondary Insurance Submission:  With the use of ABS technology, processing of secondary or tertiary submissions is nearly automatic.  This task is accomplished quickly and efficiently with very little delay.

Denials Management:  Alaska Billing Services employs Management resources to the task of driving Payor response and accountability.  ABS utilizes online EDI resources to observe all electronic claim submissions as they are processed and qualified by our clearinghouse.  We are vigilant and proactive in identifying the root cause for any barrier to timely claim processing.  ABS is committed to insuring Insurance payors adhere to stated timelines and industry guidelines.

Charge, Payment and Adjustment Posting:  ABS offers a variety of options to our clients regarding the level of support needed within a medical practice.  The majority of our clients deliver paper batches by mail, courier or scanned document directly to our office. As part of our service agreement, ABS will enter all charges, payments and adjustments into our PMS system. Our goal is to post all transactions within 48 hours of receipt.  ABS will also post all payments received from insurance carriers or patients.

Patient Statement Services:  Once insurance payors have completed their payment process, ABS will systematically process outstanding patient balances and, where requested or required, initiate follow-up contact to patients.  According to individual insurance coverage policies, patients will be invoiced for deductibles, co-pays, and outstanding balances. We employ a knowledgeable, service focused staff to answer patient questions, accept payment or to set up payment plans.  ABS is also able to work within the guidelines of your medical practice to ensure a seamless, professional consistency with your patients.

Collection Services:  Working within the guidelines of your medical practice delinquent patient accounts will receive monthly statements and an initial soft collection letter from Alaska Billing Services. After 90 days outstanding & based on the approval of the client, delinquent accounts can be forwarded to a collection agency of the medical provider's choice, or written off at the provider's discretion.
